Professional background
Clara Song holds a Ph.D. in Data Science, a Master’s degree in Marketing, a Bachelor’s degree in Business and a Medical Aesthetician diploma. Her doctorate is in Data Science—not dermatology or medicine.
At COMPLETE ELIXIR in South Surrey, British Columbia, Clara develops and manufactures skincare formulas in-house in small batches. Her work focuses on complicated skin: sensitivity, acne with reduced tolerance, dehydration, barrier stress, pigmentation, age-related changes and post-treatment recovery.
How Clara evaluates skincare evidence
Each Skin Journal article separates four different levels of information:

Ingredient evidence: published research about an individual ingredient or treatment category.

Formulation rationale: how concentration, pH, solvents, delivery system, emulsification, preservation and packaging may affect performance.

Finished-product evidence: testing performed on the complete product, which is not interchangeable with ingredient evidence.

Professional observation: patterns observed in esthetic consultation and product use, which do not replace controlled clinical evidence.
Editorial and review policy
