Routine export document proves unobtainable for cosmetics in Canada

The requirement arose during Korean import review. After contacting more than 50 organizations, the company obtained the certificate from Cosmetics Alliance Canada, the national industry association, which issued and notarized it. Korean authorities accepted it.

The case highlights an asymmetry in cosmetics trade documentation between producing countries, and a discoverability problem for small manufacturers exporting from markets where no government body issues the document.

Other cosmetics-producing countries issue this document as a matter of routine. Cosmetics Alliance Canada is what made it possible for us - but a small exporter should not need fifty phone calls to find that out.
