Oily and Reactive

Oily skin that stings is usually stripped skin making more oil.

Why is my oily skin also sensitive?

Skin that is oily and irritated at the same time has usually been cleansed or treated too hard. When the stripping stops, oil and stinging both tend to come down.

What usually helps
  • A low foam cleanser
  • One treatment active at a time
  • A light moisturiser, even on oily skin
What to pause
  • Foaming cleansers that leave skin squeaky
  • Daily alcohol toners and clay masks
  • Layering several acne actives
Ingredients to look for
  • Niacinamide
  • Salicylic acid, low strength
  • Probiotic ferments
When skincare is not enough

Breakouts that are deep, painful or leave scars are worth a doctor's or dermatologist's visit.
